Electronic Music At Home
Fast Tube by Casper
Do you like electronic music? Much of the music that you hear today is at least partially electronic: It is produced by synthesis or sample playback through a computer. The music in this post is electronic music.
Early electronic musicians needed a bank of computers and synthesizers to produce their music, but today we can produce complex, interesting music with just a laptop computer. Some years ago I saw Pat Metheny in concert, and sitting on top of his synthesizer keyboard was an Apple computer.
Many soundtracks that you hear in the movies or on television incorporate electronic or computer music, and many commercials use electronic music.
Listen to the music in the YouTube link above. It was produced entirely on a home computer, even the acoustic guitar and clarinet solos. I used a program called Propellerhead Reason to create it. Reason was the first music production software that I bought several years ago. I have since purchased other software, but Reason is what I use the most for instrumental sounds.
The learning curve for Reason or any other music software can be steep, but there are plenty of online resources to help you. Many people post tutorials on Youtube and other sites to help you.
You can download the music here.
