Announcing the
5th Annual NYIOP European Auditions
the Bologna International Opera Auditions
hosted by the Teatro Comunale di Bologna
JUNE 18 – 21, 2009
*******************************************************

The Bologna International Opera Auditions represent a highly efficient approach to the process of international auditioning: The opera houses travel to hear the singers instead of vice versa.
Attended by a number of the largest houses in the world and hosted by the historic Teatro Comunale di Bologna, these auditions offer a unique opportunity for any professional singer to reach the next step in his or her career – in a very convenient and economical way.

Once a year NYIOP International brings the casting-level representatives of opera houses from all over the world together in Europe, and gives singers the chance to introduce themselves to a number of major opera houses with just ONE audition!

Houses confirmed or expected to attend in 2009 include the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Hamburgische Staatsoper, the Metropolitan Opera, Semperoper Dresden, Greek National Opera Athens, Theatre Capitole de Toulouse, Los Angeles Opera, Houston Grand Opera, ABAO Bilbao, Croatian National Opera, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Theatre du Chatelet Paris, Dallas Opera plus many more…
*******************************************************
The Bologna International Opera Auditions are open to any professional opera singers, managed or un-managed, who wish to introduce themselves to a number of houses at one time for a fraction of what it would normally cost  – however all singers who wish to sing must go through a preliminary audition procedure.

First Round Preliminary Audition Information
Beginning with 2009, we will initiate a process that allows more singers to be heard by actual casting directors and agencies. In addition, this new process will allow a singer to spend less money on travel and accommodation for the auditions.

Each singer who registers will be scheduled to sing on June 18 or 19, 2009 at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna for the First Round Preliminary Audition. This round of auditions will be attended by a MINIMUM of TEN casting directors and agencies from around the world.

At the end of the two days of preliminary auditions, the panel of casting directors and agencies will decide which singers are passed thru to the Final Auditions on the stage of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna on June 20 and 21, 2009.

Those singers who pass thru to the Final Auditions will pay NO ADDITIONAL FEE to be heard again by the entire panel of theaters who have confirmed attendance in the auditions.

The Final Auditions on the stage of the
Teatro Comunale di Bologna
After each singer registering for the First Round Preliminary Audition has sung, the group of opera houses and agencies attending the second round will select which singers will be invited back again to sing in the Final Round of Auditions, to be held on the stage of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna.
These select singers will be presented to the entire list of confirmed opera houses – which we plan on being over 25 opera houses from all over the world!!
When will the auditions take place?
The First Round Preliminary Auditions will take place on June 18 and 19, 2009 in Bologna, Italy in the Sala Rossini of the Teatro Comunale.  The Final Round of Auditions, held on the stage of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, will be held on June 20 and 21, 2009.
What are the fees to participate?
The non-refundable fee for the preliminary auditions is €400 (or US$520) and is due upon initial registration.
ALL SINGERS WHO REGISTER for the preliminary auditions will audition at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna in the First Preliminary Round of auditions attended by at least 10 international casting directors and agencies.
If selected to sing for the Final Round of Auditions on the stage of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, you will pay NO ADDITIONAL FEE!
